WHAT STATE AGENCY DO I CONTACT  WITH A CONSUMER QUESTION OR COMPLAINT?

Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection (DATCP):  www.datcp.state.wi.us   224-4953

DATCP receives general consumer complaints such as rebates, auto repairs, pyramid schemes, cable companies, telemarketing, fraud, travel scams, landlord/tenant, sweepstakes, complaints against a store or business, etc.  If you are interested in knowing whether a business has had any complaints filed against them, DATCP can tell you. 

Financial Institutions (DFI):                                           www.wdfi.org.  264-7969

DFI reviews complaints against financial businesses -- banks, credit unions, credit card companies, debt collection agencies, student loans, mortgage companies, brokers. etc. 

Transportation Division of Motor Vehicles (DOT DMV):      www.dot.wisconsin.gov.   266-1425

DOT DMV can answer all questions respond to complaints against car dealerships (new and used cars), car dealers, and the Lemon Law. 

Commissioner of Insurance (OCI):                                  www.oci.wi.gov.   266-0103

OCI answers questions and complaints against insurance companies, annuities, and insurance policies. 

Public Service Commission (PSC):                                www.psc.wi.gov.   266-2001

PSC handles complaints regarding utility service and disconnects.  Contact DATCP for utility billing disputes. 

Regulation and Licensing (R&L):                                         http://drl.wi.gov/index.htm.  266-2112

R&L responds to questions and complaints against professional licensees in the state -- accountants, real estate, funeral directors, dentists, nurses -- anyone needing a license to practice in Wisconsin.
